How would one obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) / Police Reference Check?
It varies per region. Here's a brief summary of the application process––
Toronto
Fee: None | VSC
If your postal code starts with the letter “M”, please email us your mailing address ASAP and we will mail you a form where you need to complete in pen and mail to the following address:

Make sure your writing is clear and accurate. Click here to view a sample document. A few weeks later, you will get the Approval Police Check in the mail. Please scan and email that to brainwavesyork (at) gmail (dot) com. No fee is required. The VSC must be emailed to us at least 2 weeks before your presentation date.
Peel
Fee: $35 | VSC
When you apply online, make sure you select you want a PDF document emailed to you and that you are volunteering for "Parachute Canada Brain Waves". After you have filled out all your personal information, you will have to pay a $35 fee. Download the receipt and make sure to email the receipt and the approved VSC letter to brainwavesyork (at) gmail (dot) com.
You will receive a reimbursement cheque from Parachute Canada in the mail to cover your cost. The VSC must be emailed to us at least 2 weeks before your presentation date.
York
Fee: $31 | VSC
After applying, they will email you an appointment time of when you can pick up the VSC letter. During the online application process, please state that you are volunteering for "Parachute Canada Brain Waves". After you have applied and paid the $31 fee, please email the receipt and approved scanned VSC letter to brainwavesyork (at) gmail (dot) com.
You will receive a reimbursement cheque from Parachute Canada in the mail to cover your cost. The VSC must be emailed to us at least 2 weeks before your presentation date.
Durham
Fee: $25 | VSC
After applying, they will email you an appointment time of when you can pick up the VSC letter. During the online application process, please state that you are volunteering for "Parachute Canada Brain Waves". After you have applied and paid the $25 fee, please email the receipt and approved scanned VSC letter to brainwavesyork (at) gmail (dot) com.
You will receive a reimbursement cheque from Parachute Canada in the mail to cover your cost. The VSC must be emailed to us at least 2 weeks before your presentation date.

FAQ 2
Can I use my VSC / Police Reference Check from 2019 or 2020?
Not unless you got the VSC in the past 12 months. If it was completed in the past 12 months, please email us the scanned document.
