March 2021 Update

Changes to our delivery of presentations:

We are so excited for the new and upcoming presentations for the 2021 year!

Due to recent efforts to shift to remote learning, this will be our first time conducting presentations virtually. We have high hopes that it will not affect the learning and fun that the students will have, but we are taking it one step at a time!

Here are a few changes for our virtual classroom presentations:

  • Zoom or Google Classroom presentations only
  • PDF documents and booklets only
  • No taste mapping activity
  • No lemon scent activity
  • No two-points activity
  • No jello brain
  • 1-hour presentation

We are now accepting new 2021 Brain Waves Association (BWA) volunteers! Click the link below to apply.

Volunteer roles and responsibilities:

  • Attend a volunteer instructor training session
  • Complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) / Police Reference
  • Educate a classroom of students in grades 4-6 about the human brain, and the importance in protecting it!

How do you benefit?

  • Personal reference letter from Parachute Canada
  • Gain in-demand skills (e.g., presentation, public speaking, time management, leadership)
  • Experience in teaching in a classroom to a group of curious students!
